TOP is an overview photo of the netting that I use to cover the GR during the early fall and early spring. (net & poles will be removed for winter & summer) The netting is called "Bird Netting". (from Home Depot) it is use to cover and protect fruit trees from birds. My GR is approx 30 x 45 feet and, I used 2, 18 x 45 overlapping nets attached to electrical 1/2 inch piping, built into a frame with center supports, inserted into 3/4 inch pipe in the ground. This is the first fall (2002) for the net and it save me a lot of clean up. You do have to remove leaves from the top BUT, it's MUCH easier now. BELOW is a "full blown" fall photo of the netting doing it's job.

The Fall/Spring NET(Spring)
After some major repair on the railroad, due to the winter of 2002/2003, the netting was once again installed in late April. This is the first spring (2003) for the net. As you can see, it is loaded with "oak tree spore strings". The net is catching about 95% of these...which is a really good thing. These "strings" are the real reason I tried the netting in the first place. Once the "strings" cling to the trees and buildings, they are next to impossible to remove. The netting has done a great job of keeping the West Berlin Garden Railroad clean during these seasons.
