Garden Railways Magazine "End of the Line" photo
"End of the Line"
RDC Twilight - April 2006.
(2005 Photo Contest Loser)
This is an alternate take of the photo published in Garden Railways magazine
(That photo is now owned by Kalmbach Publishing.)

How  the photo was done.
Aristo Craft didn’t include a "Motor Off" switch on it’s RDC. So, the lead RDC is hooked to the track via the rear pilot and it’s wheels are spinning in place for lights and smoke.  Smoke fluid was used to "Grease" the track.  The second RDC is an unpowered dummy.
There were about 6 test photos taken before I got the photo for my contest entry..

Boo-Boo‘s in this photo.....
In the lower right is a custom made "tie plate" umbrella stand made by my neighbor Ed Tevis. The umbrella was needed to cut down on some shadows and glare that had shown up in previous test shots. In this photo the smoke is blowing up, not to the back and, the station name plate is blocked by low growing greenery.
The  RDC cab is slightly out of focus.

ORIGINAL PHOTO DESCRIPTION
(before Marc’s edit & typo)

This is an early evening photo of PRSL RDC-1's, M407 & M410 returning from the New Jersey Shore in the late 1960's. After 15+ years, the ridership has begun to drop off. The daily trains that were once 6 cars long have been  reduce to 2. This area of my garden railroad is intentionally left  "run down" to emulate the declining years of this famous South Jersey passenger  line. The Aristo Craft RDC's in the photo and have been kit bashed to resemble the prototypes.
