It was a nice day to test the newly installed ART 5492, in the newly purchased RDC outdoors. Now that my leaf patrol is finished (for a few days) it was time to play.... Now, let me tell you about the range of this on-board TE. I mounted the on-board antenna on the underside of the RDC in a straight line. What I got is about 50 feet range.....Good? Bad? I don't know. I think it should be greater at 75Mhz....the RDC being ALL metal I guess maybe that's good. (maybe??) I stepped into my storage building, which is about 60 feet from the center of my GR, in a straight line, and tried to control the RDC......NOTHING, ZIP! I know folks have attached the antenna to power leads and made their track an antenna with no improvement in range...I may try to shoot it into the pod on top of the RDC ...OR if that doesn't help I'll try attaching to the body and make the whole RDC an antenna ...Anyway....just something to play with and think about.......

TOP PICTURE: I cut in the NEW switches (which I may NOT power) on the "inter" loop of my layout...(Top Picture) This connects the ramp "in" section to the "exit" section making another "inter" loop from the "inter" main-passenger-line. Confusing???? ANYWAY..On this new connection I can run the new RDC with the DCC or a small steam or diesel train that will be powered by the "outer" passenger mainline. This will allow a total of 4 trains to be running at once on the ground..The freight line, the passenger line, the trolley line and now this line...And with the CMSL elevated I will have total of 5.

BOTTOM PICTURE: Running under my "leaf netting", is my neighbor Ed, trying out the new line. The DCC is very cool guys...
